The setup
Small services,

The lab runs containerized services on Ubuntu Server. It gives me a practical place to work through networking, service configuration, persistent storage, and availability problems that are difficult to understand from tutorials alone.
Services
Pi-hole
Network-level DNS filtering and a practical window into local name resolution.
Portainer
A visual management layer for inspecting and maintaining Docker services.
Web dashboard
A central landing point for navigating the services available on the network.
What it teaches me
- Diagnosing DNS and network connectivity instead of treating them as black boxes.
- Managing Docker containers, configuration, and persistent data across restarts.
- Tracing service availability problems from the browser down through the host and network.
- Documenting enough of the setup that recovery becomes repeatable.
